Hello everyone, I just want to introduce myself since this community seems to be really small still. I'm a guy from Sweden currently living and working on the Faroe Islands. This project caught my eye when I was browsing wikipedia so I thought I should at least check it out. I have no real reason for using an anonymous system like Osiris, not other than that I think it is good thing and that I want to support the project.

I'm not really a coder so I can't help out much, but maybe I can file some bug reports if I stumble upon anything. I managed to get Osiris running with no big problems, I just had to forward some ports on my router. The installation was really smooth using the linux 64bit version, allthough I was not able to add the source to my software sources in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic. I got an error message that the source or some package in the source didn't exist, don't remember.

Also, does anyone have a english-speaking portal I can join to try out? I did make my own portal to see how it worked but it is kind of boring on my own. ^^

:welcome:

We don't have many english users, so a simple help about translations are welcome.

You are right. We have a bug in Ubuntu repository, only in 64 bit version.
The 64 bit version of our software was released only few days ago, so maybe contains bug. Please report any strange thing.
Ubuntu repository will be fixed as soon as possible.

Sorry, i don't know if an english-speaking portal already exists. You can create that, and publish here the invite-link. Ask if you need help about this.
But, if you have a specific question about the software, it's better if you write here.

Welcome again!

That sounds great! :)

Okay, I have started creating a general english-language portal, right now i'm just trying to figure out how manage sections and forums and how to get content to the "home" tab of the portal. I'll post a link once the portal has been set up properly.

Look at VideoTutorial for the managment of section.
To put contents in home, you can use the mirror module, to show directly the forum inside the home.
An alternative maybe create different custom search (with "Search Result" module) and put it in home, like this portal.

I understand you difficult, explaination are in italian, and many feature are not so user-friendly.
Feel free to ask anything.

Yeah I found the video tutorial although i had to watch it a few time to understand what was going on. I also managed to figure out the mirror thing for putting content in home. I've created the portal and posted it here, in the "community portals" subforum.

You could really help us translating some pages of the wiki in english if you wish: we are going to replace the actual homepage with the wiki, but, since the lack of english translations, we haven't done this yet...

Well, I don't know any italian which makes it kind of hard to translate, I'm not native to English either but I guess I can help to clean up some of your translations correcting spelling mistakes and the like. :)
